OUR VINEYARDS

We gaze with particular pride upon our vineyards, which are among the best in Wagram. They are our most precious asset and we do everything in our power to maintain them as they were entrusted to us.

Ried Schlossberg

Ried Schlossberg

At the heart of the old Schlossberg lie some of the best placed vineyards in the Wagram region, with unusually high potential. The loess here is deep and abundant – a major advantage given our methods of cultivation – and the vineyards embraced by acacia woodland. Here the grapes ripen early, thanks to the pronounced microclimate, and the soil contains high-quality minerals. Grüner Veltiner and riesling do particularly well here.

Ried Mordthal

Ried Mordthal

The loess came to rest here long ago at the foot of a gentle, south-facing slope. Soft downwinds caress the grapes on hot days and prevent waterloggining on cooler ones. Here, the less pronounced minerality allows us to produce wines which are more mellow and sophisticated than those from loamier spots and Grüner and Roter Veltiners do excellently on this seemingly uncompromising soil.

Ried Bromberg

Ried Bromberg

The Ried Bromberg vineyards stretch right along the Wagram escarpment – where the prehistoric sea and the ancestral Danube have both left their mark. The loess soil layer rests upon gravel beds, having been laid down during the patient eons of geological time. The grapes which ripen here are perfect for full-bodied Grüner Veltiner and Riesling wines.

Ried Steinberg

Ried Steinberg

Similarly to Ried Mordthal, these vineyards lie at the foot of a stony shale and granite slope. They also benefit from a generous layer of loess, which has built up along the valley side, resulting in mild thermals. The interplay between bedrock and loess provides the perfect basis for pinot blanc, which develop fine acids, cheerful fruit aromas and delicate smoothness here.

Ried Exelberg

Ried Exelberg

These vineyards are on a gentle slope running north-south. Warm and airy, they are ideal for red wine we grow Zweigelt vines here, so that we can fulfil our ambition to produce full-bodied, Austrian reds... ours being spicy yet creamy delicacy and of a very high standard.
